The Colorado Department of Public Health echoed this, stating that as a way to protect children under 12, who can’t yet get vaccinated, those eligible should get their shots and boosters. “Vaccines are safe and the most effective way to protect ourselves and our loved ones from severe illness and death,” Hollister wrote in an email. Boulder County Public Health spokesperson Shawn Hollister said anyone who is eligible to get vaccinated before the holiday season should do so. In addition to avoiding crowded indoor events and following public health guidelines, a major safety component is getting vaccinated against the virus. Boulder County Public Health officials this year suggested a “multilayered strategy,” to protect against the spread of the coronavirus pandemic over the Halloween and holiday season.
Last year, public health officials advised families to find alternatives to trick-or-treating and costume parties. As residents put the finishing touches on their Halloween costumes, public health officials shared coronavirus guidelines for approaching the holiday safely.
The leaves have changed colors and carved pumpkins have been displayed on porches across Boulder County.
